From Waste to Possibility in Bokaro – For over two decades, Sahyogini has been a pillar of grassroots change in Bokaro. With EarthON’s support, they launched a vibrant waste management initiative blending awareness with action. Youth led rallies, schools embraced eco-learning, and households practiced composting and segregation. Door-to-door campaigns brought sustainable habits into daily life, while collaboration with civic bodies aligned systems with community efforts. Sahyogini proved that real change happens when people lead with purpose. From bylanes to classrooms, they turned waste into a vehicle for dignity, responsibility, and hope.

From Waste to Worth – Empowering Communities, One Step at a Time – Ekitaa Welfare Trust, based in the coal belt of West Bengal, is committed to uplifting vulnerable communities, with a special focus on women and children. With EarthON’s support, the Trust transformed waste management into a tool for empowerment, fostering sustainable practices while building local leadership.

Local women, equipped with hands-on training in composting and upcycling, played a pivotal role in transforming their households into green spaces, contributing to both environmental and economic well-being.Ekitaa’s approach demonstrates that with grassroots efforts, waste can be turned into an opportunity for transformation and a cleaner future.

DAS, rooted in the underserved Dhapa area of South Kolkata—where the city’s waste meets its most vulnerable communities—was founded to uplift women and children through rights-based development. With EarthON’s support, DAS expanded its mission to tackle waste management, transforming a pressing challenge into a path for empowerment.

In a place where unmanaged waste affects daily life, women were trained in composting and segregation, turning household chores into environmental and economic solutions. Tapping into deep community trust, DAS ensured these practices reached every home, fostering lasting change. Their work shows that when education, empathy, and grassroots leadership come together—even the most neglected places can spark sustainable transformation.

Youth-Led Change, Rooted in Rights and Driven by Dignity – Pehchan Foundation, a youth-driven initiative in Titagarh, is transforming local communities through awareness and action on waste management. Supported by EarthON, Pahchan empowered youth to lead change while linking environmental sustainability with community wellbeing.

The foundation turned waste into a catalyst for awareness, leading youth in rallies, door-to-door drives, and school campaigns to promote waste segregation, recycling, and cleaner neighborhoods. Engagement with schools helped build eco-conscious habits, while collaboration with local authorities ensured alignment with municipal waste management plans, creating a sustainable framework for future action.

Through engaging classroom sessions and school campaigns, children became advocates for the 3Rs—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle—leading change in their homes and neighborhoods. Outreach programs empowered families with knowledge on waste segregation, composting, and plastic reduction, linking personal responsibility to community wellbeing. By collaborating with Bhubaneswar Municipality, Ruchika ensured their actions were in sync with the city’s broader waste management goals, ensuring sustainable and long-lasting impact.Ruchika’s work showed that when children are empowered, families become aware, and communities unite, a culture of cleanliness and responsibility emerges.
